ホロフォニクスという謎に包まれた技術の存在を先輩に教えてもらい, 驚愕しております.

ホロフォニクス(Holophonics)とは、アルゼンチンの技術者ウーゴ・スカレーリによって開発された、立体的音響効果をもたらす録音技術の商標である。スカレーリは、この技術の公開は混乱をもたらすとし、未だに秘匿しているためにその詳細は明らかではない。1980年代、ミラノ工科大学に在学中にスカレーリが「発明」。

＊バイノーラル録音とは別の技術だそうで、確かに段違いの立体感があります. とりあえずこれを聞いてみて欲しいです. 必ずヘッドフォンで.

耳から出ている音, リファレンストーン, 自発参照音, 医学的には耳音響放射というらしいのですが, これは検索してみると確かな情報であることがわかります. すでに幼児の聴力検査などに使われているそうです. 耳から音って… 鼻から牛乳のほうがよっぽどリアリティあるｗ ホロフォニクスは上のリンクでも語られている軍事産業への応用などを含め、多くのテクノロジーへの影響が予想されます. さらにホログラフィーとホロフォニクスが実現すれば仮想現実とか拡張現実どころの話ではなくなる. リアルとバーチャルの区別がつかなくなりそうです.

Today I was amazed to hear　about “Holophonics” mysterious technology.

Holophonics is a trademark for a specific form of sound recording that is based on the (unproven) hypothesis that the auditory system acts as an interferometer. The sound characteristics of Holophonics are most clearly heard through headphones, though can be demonstrated to be effective with ordinary 2 channel stereo speakers. To optimize this effect, loudspeakers have also been specifically designed for reproducing Holophonic recordings. There has been some controversy over the claims made by Zucharelli regarding this recording technique. The effects achieved are comparable to traditional binaural recording using mannequin heads, or via more traditional 3D audio techniques via HRTF’s. There is no evidence nor studies conducted that indicate that the Holophonic technique is substantially different from or superior to these methods, nor has Zucharelli ever published his technique, nor has he allowed independent study of the results.

An otoacoustic emission (OAE) is a sound which is generated from within the inner ear. Having been predicted by Thomas Gold in 1948, their existence was first demonstrated experimentally by David Kemp in 1978[1] and they have since been shown to arise by a number of different cellular mechanisms within the inner ear[citation needed]. Numerous studies have shown that OAEs disappear after the inner ear has been damaged, so OAEs are often used in the laboratory and the clinic as a measure of inner ear health.

“Holophonics” might  change many basic technology and be used for armaments industry. Furthermore, when we could combine Holophonics with holography, it’s very difficult for us to distinguish between real world and virtual world. It will be not the time to talk about VR or AR.
